Don't bet on it if Win95 isn't working correctly. Seriously, I've been in the situation you're describing before and it was something in the darn Netscape cache directory. While I can't explain how that could totally freeze everything it did. Before I figured this out to be the problem I did successfully install WinNT v3.51 on top of it OK the first time, second time NT wouldn't even go.

Clear the cache manually and try it, after that go into your autoexec.bat and config.sys files and "comment out" all the unnecessary items one at a time.
