Cap. Research votes for H-P merger (HWP, CPQ) By Neil Chase

Capital Research, which holds 3.4 percent of the shares of Hewlett-Packard (HWP) , said Tuesday morning that it voted nearly all of its shares in favor of H-P's plan to merge with Compaq (CPQ) , according to CNBC. The move puts the "for" votes closer to the "against" in the running tally, but more than 50 percent of the votes still have not been revealed. H-P shareholders are meeting this morning, and proxy votes are due today. In early trades, H-P shares are up 40 cents to $19.65 and Compaq is up 4 cents to $10.40.
