The important statistic in the mortgage foreclosure discussion is the percentage of mortgages being foreclosed out of the total. I didn't see this statistic in the Seattle Times piece. I'll bet it is less than 2%, maybe even closer to 1%. AFAIK, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer is a larger, more mainstream source than the Times, with which I'm not familiar.

The article seems to be a bit hysterical, in the typical tabloid sense.

I have a friend who is a homebuilder in the Seattle area, and although he's nervous, he's recently sold two homes and is planning a normal building schedule this year. Things may be tight in Seattle, but they don't seem dire, from what I can gather.
