Amanda Ghost's Biography


b. London, England. This singer-songwriter, raised in north London of Spanish and Indian descent, made a notable impression in 2000 with her debut Ghost Stories.

Ghost first began performing while studying at the London College of Fashion, creating a favourable impression on the city's tight-knit club scene. She formed a songwriting and performing partnership with Ian Dench (ex- EMF ), remixer Lucas Barton and keyboard player Sacha Skarbek, and signed a worldwide recording contract with Warner Brothers Records.

Although Ghost Stories opens with the strident industrial leanings of "Filthy Mind", the downbeat lyrics and mix of folk-based melodies and club beats on the following tracks place Ghost firmly in Beth Orton territory.
