I understand those things, and it's why I said it's only partly serious. With this exception: No marriage could ever be the better as a result of a revenge liaison. Some marriages survive because that path rather than divorce or years of fury was chosen; and the fact that the cheating spouse is, before the fact, in possession of the information that the contract doesn't permit for self-serving non-disclosure parading as consideration for the spouse may act as a deterrent. On the other hand, it's not a controlled experiment, and some marriages can be destroyed by it that would have been saved by the secret. I know that. It has worked as a remedy for depression and rage in cases I know.
