ABN AMRO take on CTIA:

On Monday March 18, 2002 ABN AMRO attended the CTIA Wireless Conference in Orlando Florida. Turnout was strong and we believe that despite toned down (and more realistic) near term expectations for wireless data, the overall tone was bullish. . We came away with increased confidence in our view that CDMA operators hold a technological and timing advantage over TDMA/GSM operators. We highlight our top large cap pick, Sprint PCS. . 802.11 (Wi-Fi) technology was highlighted by several operators, and the facts presented reinforced our view that this technology is a potential compliment to 3G, not a replacement. We also came away convinced that a lot of work on the roaming revenue model is needed before 802.11 can be integrated into wireless carrier data offerings.
