Interesting story in the Inquirer today....
THERE'S A REPORT in Digitimes today that grey market chipset business is on the rise because there's a lack of demands for mobos. And the wire puts that down, partially at least, to the failure of any of the big Taiwanese mobo firms winning big deals at the CeBIT show, which closes this week.
The moves mean that the price, for example, of Pentium 4 based chipsets has slumped by as much as $7, and suggests there could well be "clearances" because of the lack of demand.... Neverthless, while the Digitimes story, which you can find here is somewhat downbeat, other wires report big wins for the Taiwanese makers.
Elitegroup (ECS), according to the Economic News, will ship 20 million mobos this year, and claims it will be the biggest manufacturer on the planet.
And it is claiming that it has won several orders at CeBIT, although there customer names are not mentioned in the piece More at: theinquirer.net
Elitegroup has increased its share recently largely on the strength of its AMD boards, but has since expanded its Intel board line, too. |
