Excuses are plentiful. Do the math. The "so powerful and long term" success seemed coincidentally to be feeble through the Reagan and Bush years, succeed through Clinton, and fail once again in Bush II.
At the time, Lloyd Bentson said, "Let me write a few hundred billion in hot checks and I'll give you the ILLUSION of prosperity!"
That's what massive government spending does, as we see going on now.
Only, it's a phony prosperity.

Each side blames the other, Dem and Repub.

Meanwhile, the looting continues, government grows out of control, and the propaganda "blame game" successfully distracts those who might otherwise see the truth.
