"...the opposite of understanding. " That's a good definition of "what they do" compared to "what they say" in Washington. The best solution is a taxpayer revolt, as Ray suggested on this thread a few days ago, putting payments into an escrow, until enlightened action starts coming out of DC, or until politicians and Beltway Bandits find useful employment elsewhere. The trillions thus saved in escrow would generate useful bank investments. Combined with removing trillions from the rathole of the Beltway would boost the economy. Removing hundreds of billions from backroom mil-indus apparatus deals would save lives around the world. Citizens forming their own Homeland Defense will provide far better protection than the incapable CIA/FBI and other fully-corrupted 10 intelligence agencies. The remaining military can plunder the rest of the world of oil on their own, paving the way for Carlyle and Bush, leaving the taxpayer out of it. It's pretty much a win/win/win.
