Don we have the technology right now to make vehicles that are a whole lot more fuel efficient than the ones being sold by Detroit. I am not talking about making a tiny car.
Car companies aren't going to build them unless forced to because they would be slightly more expensive than the ones they compete with. This is true even if the buyer would save more money over the long run by buying the more expensive car.
