I find myself looking "rational" up in the dictionary all the time. It never seems to mean what I expect it to, no matter how often I do that. When I think of rational, I think of logic and the scientific method. You can't get to a belief in God or a denial of God by the scientific method

The scientific method is itself dependent on logic. Philosophical or religious ideas can be believed in or argued for because of a logical process or argument. I don't see how the scientific method could result in religious beliefs but logic can.

Of course any logical argument has to start with assumptions. If you start no assumptions you can't really make an argument. If you start with no assumptions beyond the most basic (perhaps "I think therefore I am", and the basic ideas of logic itself) then the logical result is probably agnosticism, but I don't think that makes faith necessarily illogical or irrational. I would agree with "unscientific".
