They are called "statesmen" and are much rarer in the television era. George Bush is one of them, and was badly needed in the wake of the Clinton disaster. Since one statesman is worth a thousand Puff Daschles and Smilin' Joe Bidens, our superior culture tends to move forward over the long run. A few more Clintons, and that will change...
