You look at the political conflict as a kind of World Series where the losing team (even at 4-3) is stood against a wall and shot-based on the assumption that they have lost-and will thus never see another pennant. They may win one as early as next year-losing 60 games in the process. But since you've had them all shot for not going 162-0, you no longer have a team at all.

You want, in other words, the sausage without the ugly grinding process. Hitler, Stalin, and many others tried that. And being wrong in the first place turned out to be only one of many lethal sins they committed...
