It does, most directly. Their actions were simple proof.

Investment in defense has to make sense, otherwise it can be worthless. It is out of control since the time of Eisenhower, and even more so today.

The "cost" of defending this country isn't some obvious number, based on GDP.
It is based on the DOD-counterable threat.
The 9/11 attack was clearly not counterable by DOD or any of our military or paramilitary apparatus.

The reason for comparing the multi-trillions spent on the DOD with the civilians on Flight 93 is to underscore how much the DOD has failed, and by comparison, what individuals can do.

I'm happy our country has the strongest military in the world.
But much of what the DOD spends is worthless.
Worse, much of that is counter-productive, such as training Taliban in techniques, just for a minor example,
and other forms of enterprise that become what is euphamistically called "Blowback" (meaning attacks on Americans here at home).

Ironically, these dollars spent on military adventures costs American lives, rather than saving them.

Civilian citizens, OTOH, have what is called "common sense"

That means, you don't get involved in the Middle East nonsense, sending billions of dollars and military support.
You don't fight wars over oil and call it proud nationalist terms of enderment. Instead you find ways around being enslaved to those petroleum contracts, which were continued to be negotiated, btw, immediately after the Gulf War by Bush I.

You don't get involved in India-Paki, or Russia-Afghani conflicts, or Latin American warlords who end up selling drugs via the CIA to our schoolkids.

That isn't protecting America. Anything that isn't actually reducing conflict or disarming is a threat to the security of America.

Of course, it is termed as a threat NOT to spend DOD money to beat the feeble and failing Russians, or the stone-age Afghanis.
But that is to be expected. There are millions of paychecks and trillions of dollars riding on that expectation. They hope the taxpayer is (a) afraid and (b) convinced the DOD is the only answer.

It may be expected we will have further attacks on our Homeland, probably before the elections.
It won't be the DOD, nor the FBI that protect us.
It will be citizens.

Thats just IMHO.
Check back on this in October
