Docucorp Announces Documanage 6.0; Advanced Interface, Resource Management and Database Support Enhances Management and Control of Enterprise Information
DALLAS, Mar 21, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Docucorp(R) International (Nasdaq:DOCC), a leading provider of enterprise information solutions, today announced Documanage 6.0, a new version of its document management and archive solution suite that will significantly improve the ability of companies to control and direct the distribution of rapidly expanding information repositories. Docucorp plans a mid-May release for Documanage 6.0. Documanage delivers content management and workflow, along with a full-scale archival system, to automate the storage and indexing of information, eliminate manual filing and paper-based document storage, and enable clients to retrieve, view, annotate and route information automatically.
"Every day, the amount of information generated by companies continues to expand, creating a situation that can slow down fast growing businesses if the information is not automatically organized, stored and retrieved," said Bruce Dale, Docucorp's senior vice president of products. "This release of Documanage enhances what was already a scalable, enterprise-class content management and archival solution and should enable information-intensive companies to leverage their existing corporate information infrastructure and improve the management and flow of enterprise information."
The Documanage 6.0 suite will include significant updates to the server along with an entirely new workstation. Documanage 6.0 highlights include:
-- Integrated XML -- ensures that Documanage can accept and distribute a broader array of information and makes it easier for other business processes to share incoming and outgoing data with Documanage. -- Integrated and expanded database support -- with the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) and Microsoft Access Jet Database now integrated, Documanage 6.0 lessens configuration complexity, extends the number of potential applications and lowers cost. -- Integrated viewing with annotation for all file types -- this capability enables document annotations to be viewed entirely within the Documanage Workstation, streamlining management and distribution by eliminating the need for a separately launched viewer. -- Revamped user interface -- the new interface enables users to work faster and provides a better representation of information through clearer dialogs and displays, simpler window relationships, improved reliability and a less intensive use of system resources. -- Extended document properties -- more flexible storage properties enable a significantly improved ability to store and retrieve documents according to critical, document-specific information (e.g., utility bills accessed according to meter number or amount due).
Other new features include improved application administration and logon, automated and centralized printer resources, future-proofed sequential volume storage and enhanced document migration and retention utilities. Documanage 6.0 will be available for Windows and NT operating systems. Current licensees of Documanage will receive upgrade notices from Docucorp's Customer Support on how to receive the newest version. For more information, contact 1-800-735-6620 or info@Docucorp.com.
