enigma, As an engineer my beliefs are that the minor problems with American nukes is that each plant was uniquely designed and the computers and control systems were expensive and not anywhere near as reliable as what is available today. Also all the modeling and design verification that can be done today allow for far more accurate and extensive and real simulations. Nuclear power todate has an outstanding record in America. 3 Mile Island was a success in the demonstration of the safety systems to shut down a plant and contain radiation. tom watson tosiwmee
