Did you have to go half way around the world to Kyoto to find the lefty? I don't know what he said about the ME that is lefty. In fact, I don't know what the left and right perspectives on Israel and Palestine are. I don't follow that issue closely, but it seems to me that there's not a lot of variety in American views towards the situation. Some people clearly favor Israel and others are more balanced. Some people are more hawkish and others more dovish in the way they would resolve things. Some people want to see greater or lesser US involvement. I have not noticed a clear difference between Democrats and Republicans on this issue or a clear difference between left and right. Admittedly, I haven't been paying close attention, but if there were a strong left and right, I think I would have noticed. Perhaps not. Can you tell me what about this is left and what is right?

As for hawks, my definition of a hawk is someone whose favorite tool in the international relations toolkit is military force. A dove would be someone who would use that tool only as a last resort or maybe not have the tool at all. Are we talking about the same thing? I don't think you can assess whether a president is a hawk or a dove by the tonnage of ordinance he orders dropped but more by his attitude in dropping it.
