That GE resembles more closely the failed conglomerates of yesteryear such as Gulf and Western, LTV.

I don't see GE to be that bad off. In aviation, the airlines will pay GE first at what price they set for lease and maintanence of engines vs giving money to travel agents commissions or employee raises.

You must be predicting many bankruptcies for the airline industry then.
