15:15 ET Philip Morris wins federal jury verdict (MO) 53.15 +1.12: Co announces that a federal jury has returned a verdict in favor of MO in a case brought by the family of a Rhode Island smoker; a R.I. wife had sought compensatory damages for the death of her husband because she said the co failed to warn him of the possible health hazards when he began smoking in 1959 as a teenager, but the jury concluded that there was widespread common knowledge of the health hazards of smoking even before the Surgeon General's warning was put on cigarette packages.
