Fear In Stocks Is Hard To Find

These days it's small but steady: the options market's
volatility indexes continued their downward creep. The CBOE's market volatility
index, or VIX, is off 0.61 to 20.12. The Amex's tech-sector fear gauge, the
Nasdaq Volatility index or QQV, fell 1.45 to 31.23 and looks set to close below
32 for the first time (this past week, it progressively breached the 35, 34,
and then 33 levels). The CBOE's Nasdaq Volatility Index, or VXN, declined 1.16
to 37 and is now near its lowest close since November 1999. (KT)
