The Palestinians are trying to survive. Most of the restraint needs to come from the occupier; Israel.
Give us a break Len. Or show evidence of how the the majority of Palestinians were economically better off under Jordanian or British rule than they have been under Israeli occupation (due to Jordan attacking Israel in 1967, btw).
The Israelis built sewage and power infrastructure in Jerusalem and other locations in the territories. They have provided jobs that Jordanians never provided. In fact, Jordan economically bled the West Bank for the 30 years while it was under their control. They were so poor themselves, spending vast sums on military armaments to attack the Jews, they couldn't even take care of their own people, let alone the West Bank Palestinians.
Am I saying that the Palestinians had it as good as the Israelis, or Israeli Arabs? Hell no...
After all, why would Israel go to the extent of developing the entire territory into an economic clone of itself when the world was telling them not to annex it, and it was still considered Jordanian territory (not Palestinian) until 1989???
Btw, if the Palestinians are "trying to survive", how does that apply to latest bomber who, jailed for plotting his own suicidal bombing, was released by the PA a week ago:
webcenter.newssearch.netscape.com
They knew he was going to blow himself up, but they let him go anyway.
And Arafat has the gall to say that he "condemns" the suicide bombing? He, and his people LET HIM GO!!
