In any case, Sharon knew an American diplomat was on his way. He heightened tensions in the last two weeks with dramatic military incursion into the occupied areas. He's been around long enough to know what follows from such events. He did it on purpose because he knew Zinni was coming. Why withdraw troops before Zinni'z arrival. Why not make the incursion into occupied territories on the day Zinni arrives? Because that doesn't create a situation on the ground that plays out in Sharon's favor. Last weeks action does, as we see this week.
