There has been so much media lately about Merced being a failure and how this leaves the door open for Hammer. Doors have been open in the past. Also, what is to say Hammer won't be the next Merced. Yes the die is smaller and it won't need brand new code, but AMD has only a fraction of money to make it a success. I am concerned than the success of the Athlon core may have gotten to AMD's head.
