Those advertise deals don't have much positive effect on AOL, people subscribe to cable channels were not because there were more advertisement, on the contrary, there are less. So does the internet, sure AOL was making money from advertisers because they (advertisers) believe there are still millions of subscribers, they didn't realize there are less subscribers. And advertise have been annoying me, worse and worse.
To me, more subscribers come from better interface, better service, no busy tone, none of which is true in AOL:
1, AOL brower didn't support java, didn't even support animated GIF; 2, You can't do transaction on your lombard account because AOL's problems in the security processing; 3, They apparently send your email address to other people, and broadcast a lot of emails (most of them are selling nonsense business opportunity that can earn you million bucks a week, or selling teen porns, what a service AOL is providing?) 4, Their service are still lousy, 5, 2 phone numbers I used still have busy tones in the evening, I am in Richmond, CA.
And still don't forget it's -$5+ earning, what can support its stock to go higher? I am not scared as a shorter of AOL, on the contrary, I am happy seeing better opportunity to short it at higher price again to balance my expense.
Shorters Paradise!
