Sharon puts Arafat in an untenable situation with his people when he forces Arafat to jail terrorists (who some arabs view as heroes) only to have Israel bomb the jails. This compels Arafat to let the terrorists go, lest his people accuse him of being an Israeli dupe. The latest suicide bomber was incarcerated, but when Israel invaded the occupied territories last week, Arafat emptied the jails. A reasonable, and expected move... Sharon knew he would do it, I'm sure.
