Good News for PVN

Providian rallying on M. Stanley upgrade (PVN)

By Tomi Kilgore
Shares of Providian Financial (PVN) are still untraded on the NYSE due to an order imbalance, but are rallying 38 cents, or 6.2 percent to $6.53 in regional exchange trading. Morgan Stanley upgraded the consumer lender to "overweight" from "equal weight." "Having analyzed the company's restructuring plan, we find the risk-versus-reward trade-off intriguing," the firm said in a note to clients.

----and----

Providian Financial agreed to pay $38 million to settle a class-action lawsuit which accused the credit card company of inflating profits by charging exorbitant fees. Providian's shares traded up 8.1% to $6.66.

Alert: Morgan Stanley upgrades PVN to Overweight, price target $9

-------------

I'll bet that $9 price target is about half right.
