What you are ignoring is that AMD have already moved the date out by a year.

I thought the speculation on that was that AMD delayed Hammer to line up with 0.13 SOI, so that overall combination was not put out a year. That overall combination, plus all the infrastructure you need for a new product still gives them a lot to do.

If you have experience of development then you know that if you have to move a date then you make damn sure there is enough contingency that (barring disasters) you will make the revised date.

I have experience in the development and project management side in projects like Cecil B. Demille's famous quote: "Years in the making, and a cast of thousands." You?

I don't think it is unrealistic to believe that AMD, who is currently shipping Hammer samples, has a reasonable idea of when they can produce final silicon.

When it's (FCS, or intro, whatever) is still 9 months out, the end result is still cloudy, no matter what company is doing it, even an IBM, anybody.
