RE: ZERO pollution

The waste from nukes is highly toxic, and has a 1/2 life of a few thousand years, so "non-polluting" is a mis-nomer to say the least.

As I understand it (not being an expert), if the industry were allowed to reprocess spent fuel rods, they could be re-used multiple times, and when the were finally discarded, they would be very low-level waste, that posed little danger to the environment. I think that the issue is that reprocessing can turn spent waste into weapons-grade material, and the govt won't allow it.

Somebody please correct me if my facts are not accurate.
