"No it doesn't mean that. But it doesn't mean it isn't without foundation either. We just have no way of knowing for sure (that I can see)."

On the extremes there are two paths in life to choose from. A morally good life has the foundations of justice, charity, compassion, mercy etc. rewarded by peace, joy etc.; compared to a path of treachery and greed rewarded by material gain. Material gain can of course be used to taste the rewards of pleasurable experiences. So there is a comparison between the values former and the latter. Both involve struggle and discipline. Both involve a promise of rewards with no guarantee of success. To choose the former requires a belief in a higher order, where as choosing the latter requires a belief only in what you see is what you get.

"We just have no way of knowing for sure (that I can see)."

I count self evidence as a way of knowing for sure but I recognise that this is arguable.
