Why have Palestinians been allowed to live in refugee camps for as long as they have
Are the Israelis also responsible for the refugee camps in Lebanon and Syria? Every other group of refugees from the late forties (there were millions, including 600,000 Jews who were thrown out of the Arab countries) has been resettled. But the Arab refugees from Palestine (at the time, the term "Palestinian" referred to the Zionists), got their own UN agency, UNWRA, whose mission was to feed them in camps, but NOT to resettle them. By the time Israel occupied the territories in 1967, in a defensive war (btw do you recall what the 1967 war was about, since it obviously wasn't about "occupation"?), they had been sitting in camps for twenty years already, thanks to their Arab brothers. Only Jordan gave them citizenship, considering that the whole of the original Mandate of Palestine (which covers today's Israel, the territories, plus Jordan) was one country. The other Arab countries kept them in camps without citizenship, work papers or permission to move. Then they accuse Israel of apartheid. Arab hypcrisy is very pure.
The Arabs in PA territory, 95% of the Arabs in the territories are indeed oppressed, because their government decided to wage a terrorist war, thus forcing Israel to close the borders in self-defense and to stop hiring them. Why do Arab olive groves get bulldozed? Because Fatah gunmen use them for cover. If Israel doesn't react, they kill Israelis, a win. If Israel clears the cover, they get to whine about how oppressed they are, another win. They have fools enough who will buy anything they say. |
