Ted, <It seems to me that the terrorists have Arafat's tacit agreement.>

Of course they do. If they don't, Arafat himself is likely going to be the next target.

Ten, how do you know that's the reason? It looks to me that Arafat is playing good cop to the Hamas's bad cop but that essentially they are in agreement re. goals.

Not that I feel sorry for the guy. After all, he helped create this whole mess in the first place. Live by the sword, die by the sword. But the seeds of hatred he helped to plant have led to weeds that have grown well out of his control. And it's naive to think that Arafat or his PA can make one bit of a difference anymore.

I would not be surprised if he didn't help cultivate those weeds. I don't think he's talking jihad to the Palestinians [while talking peace to the rest of the world] because he is fearful for his life. I think he believes in jihad and is more fearful that the world will see through his charade as the consummate politician, and fire him.

And that's what needs to be done......get rid of Arafat and put in a triumvirate made up of two Palestinians and an outside Arab/Muslim. Then get a third party made up of Arabs, the UN? etc to go in and clean the Hamas out. And we do the underground stuff....thrown our resources in with Israeli Intelligence and locate the Hamas cells. Then, have the third party take them out.

We have to stop being so visible.....like a pig at a wedding.....and learn to be a little more subtle. Besides, we can't afford to continue to bomb the hell out of a country and then turn around and spend billions to rebuild it....especially with Bush wanting more tax cuts.
