I thought about that dilemma of trading / holding being mixed. My remedy is quite simple. I manage 7 accounts currently. I am 'hold and accumulating' the AVN in two RESP accounts for my children

------------ Question are these DRIP's.? ---------------

while the AVN in other accounts is fair game for my regular habits. I started with only 750 shares between the two accounts. Since the nature of the accounts implies steady yearly deposits

----------- Again steady yearly deposits may not follow a method like mine. Are these deposits to be made at a set time irregardless of weakness or not. That in itself maybe an important factor ------------------
---------- Will even a model be followed? ---------------

and a nice long time horizon,

----------- That is especially good but the time horizon may not be the only factor that you need concern yourself with. As buying on weakness and ensuring you do so is even more important -------------

my kids are 9 and 3 it should be a good model.

--------- As with any study or test or method. How well it stands up to countering is the key. How easily one can find holes in it will tell how good it is. --------------
-------- An example of this would be Lornes case of saying that I told to buy PGF at $17 and hold it. When the reality of it is that I told to start accumulating at $17 and would have accumulated much and much more all the way down to $12.80. Then to have it recover to $15.70. Now Lornes way shows a loss. But the real way shows a gain. Both are models but one clearly looks at the complete info the other doesn't. How good a model is will depend on how well it actually follows what it is suppose to. Your own case will be no different.----------------
