I think we are looking at close to a "best case" scenario for Intel. AMD, a competitor, fell well short of earnings expectations. Normally that might raise fears of an industry wide slowdown but, fortunately, Motorola beat expectations by $.05 / share.

Intel will end the week at 160+ after Compaq posts blowout earnings Thursday. It may drop tomorrow however as everyone will be waiting on the CPQ numbers to gauge just how strong PC demand really is.
