Uh, oh, at the risk of appearing subjective, my recollection of that experience was, I was in high school in the SF Bay Area at the time of Kent State. WE were outraged, shocked, attended rallies and dressed in our cute psychedelic fashions. WE did not approve of the Viet Nam War, although we supported friends fighting over there and wrote them encouraging letters. WE wore our peace symbol necklaces, and the music in those days was great and really cool bands played and the cost of admission was dirt cheap. I don't remember ever being indifferent or empty with ennui. In those days I never ate brownies, though. We were right that Viet Nam was wrong.
