We were just talking about this, weren't we? If you know the truth and don't share it, you get along but in a sub-optimal information state - you are effectively choosing a delusional state. If you tell the truth, you could get more nearly optimal solutions, but you will offend people which lowers the collective efficiency. There is probably some optimum level of truth/falsehood that promotes the ideal society, but I have no idea what that would be.

So people will argue and go into a denial state when the verity of their position is questioned(I'm not sure they are even aware they are doing it). You can "not argue" with someone and let them continue on with their delusion (and potentially go on to spread that delusion to others) or you can combat the delusion. I don't know the right course of action is and that is why I've spent so dang much time writing on SI. Maybe it didn't make a bit of difference except to me. That is, I suppose, enough.
