QCharts 4.2 beta is available now to existing subscribers.

Please visit this URL for more information:

With pre-release software, there is always the possibility that something will not work as expected. As a beta tester you must understand this and not put your ability to trade at risk, through participation in the beta program.

The beta is not meant as a replacement for the release build. Subscribers who test the beta are asked to keep both release and beta builds available, by installing them in separate directories. By default, the beta will be placed in c:\Program Files\Quote.com\QChartsBeta.

Not every accomplished trader or QCharts subscriber should be a tester. One ought to have a desire to focus on the software, and be comfortable with QCharts and with managing a Windows computer. Many subscribers frankly prefer to trade or watch the market, and would be inconvenienced by having two distinct builds of QCharts on the same machine.

Separate copies should be made of files used by QCharts that reside outside of a QCharts installation directory. For example, if you have a directory C:\Workspaces, make a copy for the beta, C:\WorkspacesBeta.

QCharts 4.2 installs a web-update checker for itself and its connection manager, ContinuumClient.dll. Checks are made automatically every 5 days. We ask that you allow the DLL update checker and its installer to run at least once when prompted, and that you look manually for QCharts updates every day or so in the beta period.

The web update feature will allow a smooth, incremental rollout of improvements to QCharts in the coming months.

Please send comments about the beta to the places mentioned in the above URL, or to me by PM.

The most notable addition is the Overlay Expression feature, that allows several symbols to be shown on a single chart. By double-clicking an overlay, one makes it the default symbol for that chart and for linked windows. With <ctrl> held down, one can drag-drop a symbol from a quote sheet into a chart as an overlay.
