regarding whether the trip was a failure, to judge that you have to know two things: what they actually expected to achieve, and what happened behind closed doors on the trip. We don't know either of those things yet, so I'd be hesitant to make public proclamations on the subject. Sometimes the private story is the same as the public one (the one we all read about in the papers), but sometimes it isn't. I have no evidence that things are going well, or according to anybody's plan, but it's conceivable... tb@bestoftheweb.com
