THE CRASH OF '97 If you are wondering about when to look for the beginning of the crash of '97, you might like to know that the peak in 1907 and 1917 was on July 8 (yesterday). In 1957 it was on July 16 and in 1857 it was on July 24. And in 1977 on July 19. Ten years ago the party lasted until August 25. The average drop in these "seventh" years was around 30%. That would put the Dow around 5575, usually in about 3 months and 10 days or so, or on the next Black Monday on October 20, 1997. Be ye forewarned, but don't tell anyone.
