You are absolutely right, the problem is, that Apple is selling there computers to the same ever decreasing market over and over and again. It can't last.
yes, poor porsche, selling to the same customers over and over and over again..... horrible.... those customers buy a new car every two or three years.... now what other business is like that????
by the way, apparently you didn't see any of those statistics showing the first iMac selling about 40% to Wintel converts and new users.....
happens when you have nice products..... like Porsche.... wait till you see the statistics for the new iMac..... i've never seen anything like it with the Wintel people i know.... not even the first iMac is doing what i'm seeing to those wintel people.....
market share numbers are easily manipulated.... for instance Apple's market share in Japan was 12% the week after the iMac was announced, even before the product shipped..... now, should you use those numbers? or someone elses equally suspect 2% number? what counts is how many units apple can build right now..... if they build a lot, they will have better growth than any PC company, and better margins and better earnings..... if they can't then they will have poor market share numbers, until the correct the problem, simple really...
