Ended up spinning until about 10 PM, got a lot of clay spun, have to go up this morning sometime and trim them.

re: paper clay. I've never used it, but know what you are talking about. I have done limited work on a similar basis. Using perlite mixed into the clay is another way to maake the piece lighter. Another advantage(and the main use I know for doing it) would be to make it less vunerable to thermal shock. Back twenty some years ago, my instructor was doing a lot of stuff with perlite. He would make cooking ware for his firepit/place at his house. He also made a sort of fireplace and chimney with Perlite mixed into the clay.

It's remained warm here all night, well, above freezing. Most of the snow is now gona and the sun is out. unfortunately, the girls are still sick, and I am having a tough time shaking the last leg if this head cold. Must plough forward, must move onward<cough cough> okay, gotta get more java in me and make breakfast before going to the studio.
