"The
Brits vis-a-vis Europe are now like the Canadians have been vis-a-vis the United States.
Schizophrenic. Except the English fear they will lose their freedom to bureaucrats, whereas the
Canadians fear the loss of their regulated bureaucratic society."

Some of us.

But most of us of whatever stripe, are trying to see the huge advantage of being told what to by Washington instead of Ottawa. That case has not been made well. Anyway, as some poster on another thread said, 'who says the US really wants us? They can buy what they want.'

I was once asked by a brief US acquaintance, "When are you going to join us?"
I said, "Why would we want to do that? We've lots of our own problems. Why would we want yours, as well?"

My point is just because we look and sound somewhat alike, is not enough reason to think we are.
