It is really interesting, that's what I was just reading <g>
This is an excellent response, made me question my "follow your heart" response...

But my comment is coming from someone who has been self employed for 21 years - basically all of my life - and has not seen "benefits" or "job security" since 1981...and I only had 'em for 2 years, as that's how long I lasted working at a big advertising agency with a butthead for a boss <G>. The consultant/freelance biz was just too lucrative to put up with that.
So looking back, would I choose the life I've had, being my own boss and making my own hours while paying for my own life insurance, disability, health insurance...no paid vacations or sick days...
Often working much longer hours, weekends and holidays than I would have full time.
I don't even have to think about it for more than 60 seconds <ggg>
And as far as job security goes nowadays, that's a joke. It no longer exists. And when you get laid off, there goes all those bennies with ya as you are booted out the door. Which seems more common in the financial industry it seems than many other fields, since it all depends on how the market is moving at the time.
And another thought...how many people do you know who are miserable in their job or careers, and lives and have never found true happiness because they did not follow their heart and their dream?? I can think of many. Too many.
So after much thought, my answer remains "follow your heart". |
