Headed for recession?

The Republicans under dubya talk about tax cuts stimulating the economy, however, the recent tariffs on steel and lumber are in reality a consumption tax. American home owners and auto buyers will now have to pay 31% tax on the lumber and steel that is used in these and other items. Such heavy taxation is certain to stunt economic growth. In fact, it will stall the recovery and push America into recession. What amazes me is that by wrapping these tariffs in the American flag, and talking about how American jobs are being protected, dubya can get away with imposing these outrageous taxes on American consumers. How much longer will the American tax payers and consumers let dubya and the Republicans get away with these tax and grab policies that are sure to stifle the economy?
