Joan, is that why the US is imposing 30% tariffs on foreign steel? Because the cost of that commodity is such that the local manufacturer can't make money producing it? I think it is more complex. Gold has an above ground supply of some 10 years or more, that is what is putting a cap on it. I have mentioned here that if calamities such as the Asian Malaise few years back, the collapse of the Russian currency, and the WTC disaster last year could not get gold to move more than some 20% from it bottom, maybe it is no longer that "money of last resort" it has been in the past few "wars".In other words, it could be that the bulls are fighting the war waged by the Texans brothers few years, back.
