Ah yes, all of those other businesses, the ones losing a bil. a quarter is responsible. Sure, and I am a monkeys uncle.

The 440BX (for which I played a major role) has sold over 162 million units at last count, probably the highest selling device in history on a single stepping. For every 440BX there was a PIIX. That makes 324 million units for those alone, minimum. That's just an example of course because those components are low volume now but you quoted 32.5 million CPU+ for Intel's volume. Intel is still the largest chipset manufacturer so I simply used 25 million as the number of chipsets to go with those 32.5 million CPUs. A northbridge and a southbridge, thus the 50 million number. It doesn't count any other components so the number is probably higher.

BTW, what's your Nephews name?
