To all my compatriots at CFZ -- At about 5:20pm on Saturday 23 March I was blessed by the arrival (only 8 days late) of a little girl, Alexandra Yvette. Mother and Daughter (& Dad) are resting comfortably though not yet home, and if it seems strange that I am writing this from the floor of a hospital room all I can say is that I feel a compulsion to shout my terrific joy to anyone who will listen.

Mom laboured for a little over 14 hours to bring to life all 8 lbs 5 oz & 21 inches of little Alexandra without benefit of any medications or other medical interventions. As proud as I am of tiny Alex for braving her way into this uncertain world, I am even more proud of my wife for all that she did to make this possible; she exhibited a strength and resolve over those last hours of labor that frankly I know I never could have mustered. I never knew how much I could love someone until a little before 5:30 yesterday.

I will be leaving the markets largely to you all for the next couple of weeks, to get to better know the new addition to my family (and to help broker the transition for our prior "babies", two very loving cats <g>). Keep up the great work in my absence, and as Sun often points out, remember that family and friends mean so much more than stupid red & green numbers on a screen.
