Singapore CPI up 0.3% in February
Monday March 25, 2:27 PM

sg.news.yahoo.com

Singapore's consumer price index or CPI went up by 0.3 per cent in February after registering monthly declines for the past six months.
The Department of Statistics said the rise was due mainly to dearer food, followed by higher costs of transport and communications and miscellaneous items.

Food prices went up 0.7 per cent last month due to more expensive seafood.

But prices of vegetables fell by 2.5 per cent, reflecting mainly cheaper leafy vegetables.

Transport costs however were up due to higher car insurance premiums.

The Department said there were no changes to prices of clothing and costs of education, housing and healthcare last month.
