H-P says the vote and the debt deal had nothing to do with each other. And it says there is a "Chinese Wall" separating the actions of investment banking and equity operations.

Here is another laugh. The analysts pumping the Internut IPOs were also behind a "Chinese Wall". By now, everyone knows that "Chinese Wall" was a joke.

The real "Chinese Wall" or Great Wall of China was a large failure. In it's long history, it never stopped or discouraged an invading force or army. That is the type of "Chinese Wall" referred to today. The reference to a "Chinese Wall" sounds great, but really references actual history. It is a big insider joke on WS.
