Check out some of the neocon's writing prior to 9/11. Guys like Kristol the Younger, Robert Kagan, and Bill Bennett were looking for a fight somewhere, anywhere. They were particularly tough on China, stopping just short of calling for an invasion.

One thing about the neocons I find bothersome is that so many of them are Straussians. They're like a cult. Among other eccentricities, Straussians aren't that religious, but they think its good for society if other people are. If one wants to be atheist or secular, thats fine, just be honest. A secularist who advocates public religiosity creeps me out.
