PT: This was the one I thought was a step back from Nvidea's best (ie. about GeForce4 MX) but I have limited knowledge/interest beyond high quality 2D video. I did say "almost as good as" ;-) And further qualified it with a "if SiS have decent drivers" ;-)) Even though the SiS chip does have hardware T&L, the drivers still benefit from good SIMD optimizing. I have no idea if SiS' drivers have SSE and/or 3DNow! optimizations to any noteworthy degree. There's also the significant issue of bandwidth efficiency. NVIDIA have done a lot of work with their GF4 model to ensure that the memory bandwidth is used as efficiently as possible (e.g. by splitting the 128bit wide interface into 4 32bit memory controllers). Differences in cache models can also seriously impact the available bandwidth. -fyo
